Ok so first off my name is Charlie and like many of thousands of young adults I am off to university. The reason for writing this blog is to well change the views of mainly adults but basically anyone with a skewed view of what university life is really like. For example many people think that all students do at university is party and sleep and occasionally go to the odd lecture. I am at no point to actually change this view as I haven't started uni yet (I have a couple of weeks to go).
At the moment I am living in a large seaside town called Hastings. If you don't know about Hastings well here is a fact for you. Hastings has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the whole of Europe. At first I found that hard to believe but then I stopped at took a good long look around the town and pretty much 1 out of every 2 people under the age of 20 has a child/baby in a buggy/pram most likely to be screaming on a bus.
Anyway back to the university stuff. I will be leaving for the University of Lincoln on sunday 14th september. I am going to be living in the student village so I will be living on my own for the first time.
Another thing that parents worry about is well basically sex.They worry that as soon as their child steps foot into the halls of residence then they are inviting every guy/girl into their room. They worry that their child is also having unprotected sex and could be catching every std/sti imaginable. That is also another myth that I want to put to bed (no pun intended).
I feel (and I hope it happens to me) that the majority of students actually grow up and become more of an adult. Partying aside, I think that when it comes to living on your own you feel that there are too many responsibilties such as paying bills/rent, working and looking after your flat to act immature and if you are feeling all grown up then maybe when it comes to relationships you will be more sensible and that mos parents will find that actually their children are in good, solid, long term relationships.
Anyway I know that I have babbled so far but believe me this blog will get more interesting and funnier as time goes on. So I will update you all soon.
